Oswestry, Ellesmere, Chirk & Beyond
Specialist restoration, draught-proofing and heritage timber repairs for the period and listed properties that line this stretch of the Welsh–English border.
The Welsh–English Border Country
The Shropshire borders straddle Wales and England across a stretch of landscape that has been settled and farmed continuously for centuries. The towns and villages along this border — market towns, estate villages, canal settlements, railway stops — carry a wealth of period and listed properties, many with original sash windows that have survived largely intact. Marches Heritage Restoration is based in Welshpool and works across the whole of this area, on both sides of the border.
The work covers the full range: Oswestry and its surrounding villages to the north; Ellesmere and the meres country to the east; Chirk and the Ceiriog valley; Llanymynech on the border itself; and south into the Llangollen corridor and mid Shropshire. These are areas where Victorian and Georgian properties are common, where conservation areas are well established, and where listed building consent may be needed for any changes to windows or external appearance. We know this work, and we do it properly.
Conservation area and listed building experience matters here. The right materials, the correct repair methods, sympathetic like-for-like replacements where genuinely necessary — these are not optional extras, they are the baseline. AQ21 draught-proofing is appropriate for both listed and unlisted buildings and is one of the most effective improvements available without affecting the window's external appearance.
If you have a period property anywhere along the Shropshire borders and your sash windows need attention — whether they are draughty, stuck, rotten, broken or simply no longer working properly — we would be glad to come and look. A free survey, a written estimate, and no obligation to proceed. Call Bern on 07427 315 372 or use the form below.
